Mayorkun (Real names - Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel) was born March 23rd 1994. His mum, Toyin Adewale is a seasoned actress in the Yoruba movie scene & his dad ‘Sunday Adewale’, doubles as a movie producer and singer.

Mayorkun attended Living Spring college for his early education where he obtained his O-Level certificate before beading to the prestigious University of Lagos to study accounting, He graduated in 2014 and proceeded to partake in the mandatory National Youth Service in 2015

Mayorkun started sinaging with his church’s choir at a very early age, there he was taught the basic rudiments of music & how to play the keyboard.

He started recording demos back in the university but never released any cos he couldn’t afford proper production costs. He started off downloading free beats & writing ‘covers’ to popular songs that were released at that time.

On 1st February 2016, Mayorkun tweeted a 14 seconds video of himself playing the keyboard and singing along to Davido’s 2015 smash hit ‘The Money’ feat. Olamide. Davido’s attention was drawn to the video and he replied acknowledging Mayorkun’s talent. He proceeded to reach out to Mayorkun about a possible record deal which Mayorkun didn’t think twice about it and as they say, the rest is history.

Mayorkun released his first single under Davido’s new imprint (DMW - Davido Music Worldwide) on April 7th 2016. The song attained over a million Youtube views in just 10 days and rose to become not just only Mayorkun’s debut hit but also the #1 song in the country at that time.
